On the weekend leading up to the 4th of July, the fifth annual Free Dentistry Day was held at Jones Bridge Dental Care. On this day, Jones Bridge Dental Care and a team of 65 dedicated volunteers including dentists, hygienists, assistants, front office and general office staff came out to give back to our community. Over 175 deserving members of our community were able to receive free dental care. Free Dentistry Day provides free dental hygiene, fillings and extractions for people in need.
The first patients began lining up for free dentistry almost 24 hours before the event began. Volunteers began arriving in shifts at 4:30 am to prepare for the hectic day ahead, and the first patients were seen by 6:00 am. By 4:00 pm, the 65 volunteers had seen 177 very happy patients.
Jones Bridge Dental Care’s Free Dentistry Day began as a huge success in 2009. During the first annual event, 144 patients were served. Since then, the event has helped 785 patients by providing over a quarter of a million dollars of free dental work to deserving members of our community.
While the event is led by, and held at, Jones Bridge Dental Care in Alpharetta, without the dedicated support of other local area dentists, oral surgeons, hygienists, assistants and office personnel, it would not be possible to give back to the community on such a large scale. Dr. Leo says of the event, “We don’t need to go too far to find people who are in desperate need. If we help those close to us, others will follow and our efforts will multiply.”
